  • Ageing Well Community Grants

    Office for Ageing Well provides a range of grants to fund initiatives that reflect the South Australian Government’s commitment to supporting South Australians to age well.
  • Energy Made Easy

    A free Australian Government energy price comparison service for households and small businesses that can be used to find and compare home and small business electricity and gas plans.
  • Legal Services Commission SA

    The Commission seeks to give all South Australians equal access to justice through the legal system, providing free legal information, legal advice and legal education to all.
  • Office for Women

    Achieving gender equity and positive change for women. The Office for Women works toward achieving positive change for women by collaborating with women’s groups, community organisations and the private sector.
  • Grants SA

    Every year, Grants SA provides funding to communities in our state experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage, with the aim of improving community participation, wellbeing, and quality of life for people living and working in South Australia.
  • University of the Third Age (U3A) SA

    U3A South Australia is the umbrella organisation for the 20 U3A groups in South Australia. They do not offer courses but support their affiliate groups.
  • Affordable SA

    Affordable SA is for South Australians struggling with affordability issues. It makes it easy to access information, resources, support, and services to best meet your needs. Services are free, confidential and provided with dignity.
  • No Interest Loans (NILs)

    Borrow up to $2,000 for essentials such as appliances or furniture, car repairs or rego, a new phone or laptop, or medical, dental or vet expenses. Borrow up to $3,000 for housing-related expenses such as bond or rent-in-advance, or for recovery from a natural disaster.
  • DHS Disability Services

    DHS is committed to supporting South Australians with disability to live the life you choose in your home and community. Our person-centred philosophy of 'Everything about you, with you' influences every decision we make, and our decisions are made in consultation with you. Our staff will listen to you, work with you and be there for you.
  • Aboriginal Peoples

    DHS acknowledges and respects Aboriginal peoples as the State’s first peoples and nations and recognises Aboriginal peoples as traditional owners and occupants of the lands and waters in South Australia. DHS is committed to improving the wellbeing and safety of South Australians, we strive to build a workforce and community who are proud and inclusive, and who are champions of South Australia’s many Aboriginal cultures.
  • Financial Counselling

    Free financial counselling is also available across the State if you need help sorting out debt or getting your finances back on track. You can speak with someone over the phone or be referred to someone closer to where you live.
  • Volunteering

    About 900,000 South Australian volunteers of all ages and abilities contribute valuable skills, time and energy to our state’s economy. People who participate in their communities through volunteering feel happier, healthier and more socially connected. DHS helps to build and strengthen volunteering in South Australia by funding, supporting and driving initiatives that recognise and celebrate volunteers, and ensure the sector’s sustainability. We are also responsible for implementing the Volunteering Strategy for SA 2021–2027. This strategy sets out a six-year plan to support and enhance volunteering in SA.
  • Funeral AssistanceSA

    Funeral AssistanceSA helps people who have experienced the death of a South Australian family member or friend to cover the costs of a funeral. If you have recently experienced the death of a family member or friend who resided in South Australia and have exhausted all options to raise funds or obtain credit, you may be eligible for funeral assistance. Funeral AssistanceSA will cover the cost of services that are legally necessary or specifically authorised under the program. The deceased’s family or friends may pay for additional extras (e.g. flowers, memorial book, etc).
  • BreastScreen SA

    BreastScreen SA is South Australia’s dedicated breast cancer screening program, providing free screening mammograms (breast X-rays) every 2 years to women aged over 40. Our state-wide service screens around 100,000 women each year, aiming to detect breast cancer at an early stage, often before it can be felt. This improves the treatment options and health outcomes for our clients, their families and communities.
  • Community Connections

    Social connection and belonging are critical for our health and wellbeing. Community Connections Program supports people who are not eligible for mainstream programs such as NDIS and My Aged Care to be more involved in their community and to connect to support networks and services. It's a short-term program (up to 12 weeks) delivered through a statewide network of partners. Each person is supported to establish and maintain meaningful social connections with community, supportive social networks and a sense of belonging.
  • LGBTIQA

    The Department of Human Services (DHS) celebrates diversity and strives to improve the lives of all people. We want our services and workplaces to be safe and inclusive, and we are committed to supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer*, Asexual and other sexually, gender and bodily diverse (LGBTIQA+) South Australians.
  • Carers SA

    Almost 1 in 8 South Australians is a carer. Carers change lives. To honour their work, which is often unpaid and informal, the South Australian Government introduced the South Australian Carers Recognition Act 2005. This Act acknowledges the valuable role of carers in the community and guides government agencies in their interactions with carers. DHS works in collaboration with Carers SA, the state’s leading provider for carer services. Carers SA acts as both a representative organisation and a service provider, offering a range of services to families in metropolitan, rural and remote locations.
