Marking Nature Festival’s 5th year, we are thrilled to be hosting another extraordinary program of over 400 nature-inspired events celebrating our relationship to nature in South Australia. The 2024 festival runs from 28 September - 13 October and is packed with opportunities to connect with nature and each other.

This year, we’re diving into the theme of Awe, inviting you to pause, breathe, and be captivated by moments—big and small—that draw us away from the rush of everyday life and into a deeper relationship with the world around us.

Our program is as diverse as ever, spanning the entire state and featuring a rich array of events: from the arts, talks, and ideas to Aboriginal culture, food and wine, wellbeing, gardening, giving back, and plenty of free, family-friendly activities. It’s a program as broad ranging as the interests and backgrounds of the team behind it.

Find awe in the arts through an intimate concert or an immersive architectural botanic folly. Experience awe through the eyes of others with talks and ideas like the 7 x 7 Awe Talk or travel with the Legacy of the Leyland Brothers. Foster your connection to Country with a Kaurna bush tucker or walk the Wirti Urdla Trail with cultural guides on Adnyamathanha country. Delight your taste buds with a journey from vine to glass or satisfy your garden curiosity at one of our open gardens. Mindfully connect with nature while learning how to weave in the Adelaide Hills at Mindful Weaving Workshop at Karkoo Nursery.

Nurture your wellbeing and give back this spring with regenerating Adelaide’s Park Lands or indulge in an all-inclusive Wilpena women’s weekend retreat. Enjoy the wonder with your kids and family with walk, learn and explore nature, microbats under the stars or wonder in the forest. Or do it all with the Bowerbird Collective in the stunning grounds of Carrick Hill for the closing night of the Nature Festival with a sunset concert in Carrick Hill’s beautiful gardens.

This year we are really pleased to partner with the Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card to present Waterway Tales: The Floating Stage, a unique event series aboard Adelaide’s beloved Popeye, blending the tranquillity of the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari with a rich tapestry of storytelling and performance.

We’d like to thank the Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card for their ongoing partnership and friendship with Nature Festival and to recognise our principal sponsor Green Adelaide and Festival Partners, City of Adelaide and the South Australian Tourism Commission.

Wherever you are in South Australia this spring school holidays, we’d love you to join us. We hope your experience gives you a renewed sense of wonder in the beauty of nature and awe for the incredible place we are fortunate to call home.
