If you live in South Australia, there are significant incentives available right now to help eligible priority group households upgrade their homes, reduce energy use and get more from the technology they already own.

But understanding what you can actually access can be confusing.

Through South Australia’s Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS), MAC Trade Services is offering eligible South Australians discounts on air conditioning and hot water upgrades, as well as a cash rebate for connecting your home battery to a Virtual Power Plant.

Here’s what’s available.

AIR CONDITIONING FROM $599 FULLY INSTALLED*

With another South Australian summer just around the corner, upgrading to an energy-efficient reverse-cycle air conditioner could cost less than you think.

Eligible concession card holders can currently access selected ActronAir reverse cycle split systems from just $599* fully installed through MAC Trade Services.

The offer includes a 2.6kW ActronAir Serene 3 reverse-cycle system, suitable for bedrooms and smaller spaces, fully installed.

UPGRADE YOUR HOT WATER FROM $2,630 INSTALLED*

Hot water can account for up to 30% of your household energy bill, which makes the switch to an efficient heat pump system an important part of saving money.

MAC Trade Services is currently offering the iStore 180L Air to Energy Heat Pump from $2,630* supplied and installed after applicable rebates. This is a 37% saving of the standard retail price.

Rather than creating heat directly like a traditional electric hot water system, a heat pump draws heat from the surrounding air to heat your water.

Heat pump technology can use up to 70% less electricity than a standard electric system, helping households reduce energy consumption and potentially lower ongoing running costs.

Time is running out, take advantage of this great offer today.

DO YOU HAVE A HOME BATTERY? YOU COULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR A $2050 REBATE WHEN YOU CONNECT TO AN ELIGIBLE VPP RETAILER.

If you already have an eligible home battery, there could be another cash rebate available.

A Virtual Power Plant, or VPP, connects home batteries so that their stored energy can be exported to the grid when demand is high, just like exporting your excess solar power and being paid for it, a VPP connection is the same concept, just for your stored power.

Under REPS, eligible South Australian Priority Group households connecting their battery to an approved VPP may be able to access a cash rebate of up to $2,050*

Unlike the discounted upgrade offers, eligible VPP incentives are paid directly into the customer's bank account following the application and verification process.

No lock in contracts and a chance to claim thousands in a cash rebate just for giving it a go.

SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS REPS?

REPS stands for the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme.

It’s a South Australian Government initiative which helps Priority Group households and businesses reduce energy costs while supporting a smarter, more efficient and flexible energy system.

This means households can benefit from discounted products, discounted installations and other cash back incentives when they participate in reducing their energy usage from the grid.

Importantly, you generally do not need to be an existing customer of a particular energy retailer to access REPS activities; it is available to all South Australian households*.

REPS is also not simply a government cashback program. For many activities, the incentive is built into the reduced price of an eligible upgrade through an approved activity provider.
