An age friendly community considers the needs of older people and addresses potential barriers, so that people of all ages and abilities can participate.

If an environment is welcoming and accessible for older people, it also helps it to be inclusive for all.

The City of Onkaparinga is recognised as an age friendly region that is accessible and inclusive to all, however there is always room for improvement. To assist in identifying barriers, an interactive Age Friendly Audit Tool has been created.

The Audit Tool was co-designed with community centre stakeholders including Boards of Management, staff, volunteers, and centre users. It will help the centres to better understand the experience of older people who access their site, what barriers they may face and where there is opportunity to improve their experience.

The tool is available digitally using a QR code, in hard copy, and is being promoted at community centres in the council area and on the City of Onkaparinga, Age Friendly Communities webpage.
