The Greek Welfare Centre of SA - St Philothei (GWC) is the philanthropic arm of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.

For over 40 years, the Greek Welfare Centre has been involved in programs to assist Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities. The Greek Welfare Centre has grown immensely over this period, with programs funded by the Federal and State Government, the development of several groups, and building relationships with other organisations and providers in general. The positive aspects of its Greek culture are built into the Centre’s approach and attitudes toward reaching people in our local and broader community.
The Greek Welfare Centre provides information and advocacy services to the community, aiming to promote a better understanding of Ageing Well initiatives and government support for older South Australians such as My Aged Care, the Aged Care System, the Adult Safeguarding Unit, Elder Abuse, Advance Care Directives and others.
Under this scope, and with support from Office for Ageing Well, Computer Classes and English Lessons are provided to make access to government online services easier and to give participants a second opportunity to increase their learning and comprehension of the English language and literacy skills.
