Office for Ageing Well is offering grants totalling $750,000 for community groups and organisations, local governments, researchers, and research organisations.
The Ageing Well Community Grants and Impact Research Grants for Ageing Well are open to fund initiatives that reflect the South Australian Government’s commitment to supporting South Australians to age well and promote more positive community attitudes towards ageing and older people.
The grant rounds, administered by Office for Ageing Well, will for the first time, incorporate $150,000 in Impact Research Grants funding, open to researchers and research organisations.
They can apply for two Seed Grants of up to $25,000 each for research projects of up to 12 months duration and a Major Research Grant of up to $100,000 ($50,000 annually for two years) for a research project of up to 24 months duration.
In 2023-24, the focus of the grants program is to answer priority questions of community and policy importance related to the ageing well pillars of ‘Life-course’ and ‘Social inclusion’ in the Strategic Research Agenda for Ageing Well in South Australia.
Grants for Seniors and Positive Ageing Fellowship Grants are available for incorporated, non-profit organisations working with older people, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people who identify as gender and/or sexually diverse, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, to develop and deliver projects and activities that contribute to building and maintaining inclusive communities focussed on ageing well.
The funding pool for Grants for Seniors has increased to $200,000 to encourage and support additional community activities during South Australia’s Week of Ageing Well, from 1 – 7 October 2024.
Grants of up to $5,000 can pay for goods like equipment and materials that stimulate activity and social engagement for older people. Up to $10,000 can be used for seniors’ cultural, social, educational, or ageing well projects.
Positive Ageing Fellowship Grants provide one-off grants of up to $40,000 for capability building projects that will support older South Australians to age well and be recognised for their valuable contributions across their lifetime.
The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI) will coach and mentor recipients of these grants, aiming to create long-term change.
South Australian local governments, Regional Local Government Associations and Aboriginal and Outback Communities can apply for one-off Age Friendly SA Grants of up to $40,000 and partnerships of at least three local governments or equivalent organisations may apply for up to $60,000.
All grant projects must contribute to delivering South Australia’s Plan for Ageing Well 2020-2025 and Age Friendly SA Grant projects must align with the Age Friendly SA Strategy key priorities: home, community and environment, making a contribution, making it easier to get around, intergenerational connectedness, and age friendly services.
Applications for all Ageing Well Community and Research Grants are open for 11 weeks, closing on Friday 2 February 2024 at 5.00pm ACDT.
