Do you have something to say about your experience of living in regional South Australia and what makes a difference to your community’s sense of connectedness and wellbeing?

COTA SA’s The Plug-in is hosting focus groups and phone interviews as part of two research projects focussing on:

  • How you make and maintain social connections as an older person living in regional SA.
  • How you and your regional community respond to environmental and social change events such as bushfire and drought, and the economic and social changes that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Plug-in team wants to talk to people who live in or around the following locations: Clare, Kadina, Peterborough, Port Pirie, Robe, Strathalbyn, Tanunda, Victor Harbor and Whyalla.

There are two ways to participate:

  • A focus group is a 90-minute casual discussion with 6-8 people.
  • One-on-one interviews are 45-minute conversations with a researcher over the phone at a time convenient for you.

Register your interest to participate in a focus group or a phone interview.

To thank people for their time, focus group participants will receive a $40 gift card and those participating in a phone interview will receive a $30 gift card.

Please note: To ensure the safety and welfare of all participants and researchers, all focus group attendees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

If you know other people who would be interested in this project and the work of The Plug-in, please share this with family or friends who may have an experience to contribute. The Plug-in wants to make sure a broad range of older South Australians from regional areas are heard.

Through your contribution you are raising the voices of older people and supporting the important work of COTA SA!

The Plug-in is supported by Office for Ageing Well and Wellbeing SA to undertake this research. The findings will inform local programs in regional areas and be shared with decision-makers in state and local government, local health networks, not-for-profit organisations, and other service providers, with the intent of improving everyday life for older people living in regional South Australia. Your contribution will help them to better understand your needs and the needs of others like you.
