For over 45 years Technology for Ageing and Disability (TADSA) volunteers have been delivering Assistive Technology projects - working from their own sheds and workshops, using their own equipment to custom design and build technical solutions to unique problems.

TADSA volunteers also support the Freedom Wheels program. This enables people of all ages to participate in sport and recreation using individually customised bikes, trikes, frame runners and other sporting equipment.

From helping people accomplish everyday tasks to bringing the thrill of participation and social inclusion, TADSA’s volunteer-driven, customised assistive technology pushes the envelope of innovation and can be revolutionary for individuals whose disability or age-related challenges limit participation.

Once the equipment is ready, it is delivered by the volunteer. This includes an assessment of suitability and instructions on use and maintenance.

The large and cumbersome nature of many projects has often necessitated commercial delivery or use of hired trailers.

But now this is a thing of the past!

Supported by Office for Ageing Well through Grants for Seniors 2022-2023, TADSA has taken delivery of a purpose-built trailer.

Volunteers can now deliver the customised assistive technology themselves, cutting out delivery costs, previously passed onto clients.

TADSA’s valuable work would not be possible without volunteers willing to share their time and skills. Time commitment is flexible with volunteers offered rewarding projects that push the limits of their technical abilities. Whether your skills are with power tools, hammer and nails, or if you are skilled in welding, electronics or mechanics, you too could help support somebody’s independence.
