With the rush of everyday living, what if there was a way to make it easier for you and your family to make energy-smart choices and reduce your energy bills? Or even just simplify your home energy and master it in ways that could save you money?

The good news is a new home energy project is doing exactly that, while also offering extra support for concession households. But with limited places available you’ll have to move quick.

Use energy smarter. Reduce bills. Lower emissions.

Led by SA Power Networks and supported by the Government of South Australia, Energy Masters is a brand new project that will empower 500 South Australian households with smart appliances, with the tools and know-how to take control of their energy use, save on their bills and reduce their carbon footprint.

Households selected to join Energy Masters access:

  • a free home energy management system to optimise their home energy use
  • 50 to 90 percent subsidies on energy-smart appliances
  • energy plans that reward flexible energy use
  • insights and flexibility with a mobile app

In return, you participate in research that will strengthen South Australia's position at the front of the global energy transition. This research is a key part of the project and important for all South Australians and future generations, as it is expected to demonstrate a simple reliable and cost-effective way for all South Australians to become masters of their energy use.

Higher support for Priority households

A minimum of 50 places and higher subsidies in the project are set aside for what the project describes as ‘Priority households’, which includes households that receive the South Australian government energy bill concession, or hold a Commonwealth Government pensioner concession card or a Health Care Card.

If you qualify for one of these Priority household places, the savings you receive on upfront costs could be significant. Subject to various eligibility requirements, the project suggests that these households will be able to access 2.6 kW smart air-conditioning units from $199* and a 270L heat pump hot water systems from $1,015*, after subsidies, representing 80 to 90% savings off the standard price.

Just like all 500 households that join the project, priority households also get supported by experts throughout the journey. Project partners in Energy Masters have all been selected for their experience and knowledge in energy, and include the Government of South Australia, SA Power Networks, RACE for 2030, MAC Trade Services, Clipsal Cortex (part of Schneider Electric), Plenti, Amber, and EnergyAustralia. The project has also received funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.
