Are you a member of the South Australian Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community and interested in end of life care, planning and dying? If so, you may like to participate in a new COTA SA project.
What is this project about?
COTA SA, through its Rainbow Hub, is delivering the Rainbow Horizons Project, in partnership with Office for Ageing Well, to:
- facilitate conversations between LGBTI community members about end of life care, planning and dying, between LGBTI elders and younger members of the LGBTI community
- design and trial an intergenerational LGBTI ‘compassionate community' model that supports end of life care, planning and dying
- engage with relevant service providers who might support LGBTI ‘compassionate community’ members (such as funeral businesses, aged care providers and palliative care services).
What does participation involve?
From April 2022, participants will have the opportunity to be involved in small focus or discussion groups to discuss LGBTI considerations and experiences of end of life care, planning and dying.
Focus groups are planned in: metropolitan Adelaide, Burra, Mount Gambier and the Fleurieu.
The project is keen to talk to a range of people including those who have given this topic a lot of thought, and those who have not considered it at all.
Why get involved?
Participants will help shape a ‘compassionate community’ model and assist providers to better understand and respond to the needs of LGBTI people.
Please visit the COTA SA | #ReframingAgeing - Rainbow Horizons website for more information.
Updates will also be provided in the Rainbow Hub E-news which you can view and subscribe to here.
