Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card supported this year’s Disability, Ageing and Lifestyle (DAL) Expo held by Catalyst Foundation from 13 – 14 October at the Adelaide Showground.
The Ageing Well information stand was in a great position on a corner, meaning volunteers were able to engage in conversations with DAL attendees twice as efficiently!
Information including South Australia’s Plan for Ageing Well 2020-2025 and Future Directions for Safeguarding the Rights of Older South Australians 2023-2027 were popular pick-ups along with perennial favourite Know Your Rights and a range of useful merchandise including fridge noteholder clips and magnets, hand sanitiser and pens.
Visitors were also keen to collect the Seniors Card program’s Discounts and Deals publication with many questions asked and answered about who qualifies for a SA Seniors Card.
South Australia Public Transport Authority (SAPTA – Adelaide Metro) also exhibited at the Expo as part of their commitment to facilitating accessible journeys for all.
Their stall attracted hundreds of visitors, with a shiny, eco-friendly hybrid bus parked inside the venue. Visitors received support with travel planning and choosing and purchasing a metroCARD, learning relevant information, such as availability of free travel for SA Seniors Card members and the new easy ways to pay.
Attendees had their questions about public transport answered and the opportunity to provide feedback from their lived experience.
If you did not get around to visiting the DAL Expo, but you are heading to Sunday’s FEAST Festival Picnic in the Park (5 November), visit the Adelaide Metro stall for all things buses, trains, and trams.
