A two-year discovery research project, undertaken by The Equality Project, found that many older LGBTIQA+ people living in regional SA didn’t have access to appropriate services. “Services don’t come to the regions. They won’t leave Adelaide,” shared one study participant.

The Festival for the Future, presented by The Equality Project in partnership with Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card, is changing that. Held in Victor Harbor from 30 April to 1 May 2025, this two-day event is a vibrant celebration of ageing proudly in the place you love.

Festival for the Future is more than a program – it’s a vibrant gathering that brings people together to celebrate ageing with pride, purpose, and power. From exciting workshops and powerful panels to films, food, and fun social events, this two-day event is a must for anyone in the rainbow (LGBTIQA+) community aged 45+, those who support them, and the service providers who care.

Explore real-life tools to navigate ageing well – from legal rights and health to building social connections. Whether you are supporting a loved one or gathering information for yourself, you’ll also get a chance to meet inclusive service providers and connect one-on-one in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Kick things off with a fabulous film night from the Geelong Pride Film Festival on 29 April, then dive into two full days of engaging conversation, community stories, and joyful connection. Whether you're part of the LGBTIQA+ community, a carer, an ally, or working in aged care – this is the festival you don’t want to miss.

Festival for the Future is your space to be seen, be heard, and be supported. Let’s shape a future where every rainbow person can age well — and proudly.
