All people aged 50 years and older are now recommended to have a fourth COVID-19 vaccination dose to provide greatest protection against severe disease and hospitalisation from COVID-19.

The fourth dose is critically important for people aged 65 years and older, particularly those who are residents in aged care or disability care facilities.

You should wait three months after having your third dose, or recovering from COVID-19, before receiving your fourth dose.

It is important to get vaccinated even if you have already had COVID-19 because vaccination in addition to COVID-19 infection offers the best available protection against reinfection.

You can get your vaccination at participating pharmacies, GPs, GP Respiratory Clinics or SA Health vaccination clinics, while receiving your flu vaccine, if you are 65 years or older.

If you are 70 years or older and test positive to COVID-19 you can also access antiviral treatments. These treatments also help reduce the risk of severe disease and hospitalisation from COVID-19. To discuss your eligibility for COVID-19 treatments, call the National Coronavirus Helpline on 1800 020 080 or your usual GP. Discuss your eligibility for COVID-19 treatments with your GP before testing positive so you can access treatment early.
