How do you feel about the use of CCTV and other surveillance and monitoring technology in aged care?

SA Health conducted a 12 month CCTV pilot at two SA Health operated residential aged care facilities, exploring the acceptability, feasibility, and viability of using audio-visual surveillance and monitoring technology to support residential aged care.

However, technology is rapidly changing and a wide range of technology such as wearable devices and sensors can support care. These technologies can support independence, and assist with daily living, through to safeguarding residents.

Considerations include residents’ informed choice and consent, and the balance between supporting independence and safety while maintaining privacy and dignity of residents in their homes; types and costs of technology; and rights and responsibilities.

Office for Ageing Well is asking community members to consider and provide their views on technology and its acceptability for use within aged care facilities.

Come to a public forum on Friday 23 September 2022, 9.30am – 12.30pm at Adelaide Pavilion, Veale Gardens, South Terrace, Adelaide.
