South Australia’s Week of Ageing Well 1-7 October, delivered over 60 events in its second year with a wide diversity of events happening across the state from walking football to chamber music.
Highlights from this year’s Week of Ageing Well include Waterway Tales, presented in partnership with Nature Festival, The Puzzle performance as a part of the A Date With State program and partnership with State Theatre Company SA, Seniors Card Through the Lens photographic competition and exhibition and Campbelltown City Councils Week of Ageing Well Morning Tea.
One event that went ahead in Mount Gambier was the Festival for the Future. Members from the rainbow community and their allies, including service providers, Office for Ageing Well and Minister for Seniors and Ageing Well Minister Nat Cook, came together to celebrate ageing well for diverse communities within Mount Gambier and the regions.
Highlights from the Festival included: the importance of connection to age well; a session on how to set boundaries, whether personal, emotional or professional, and a session on Rainbow Rights delivered by COTA SA. It was great to see all ages come together and connect with each other.
