The Goyder Hub website was officially launched on 21 September 2021. In a first for the Regional Council of Goyder, it has developed an online destination to promote active and healthy ageing for all community groups in the region.
The Goyder Hub is a community-led project and representatives from each of the towns in Goyder have taken ownership of their town’s page.
The launch, at the Paxton Function Centre in Burra, welcomed over 50 local volunteers, community members and dignitaries from state and local governments, with the response to the website overwhelmingly positive.
Aiming to be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for those aged 50 and over, the Goyder Hub is there to help community members find somewhere to volunteer, join a group, or meet new people.
The website features health and wellbeing services, arts and cultural activities, physical and sporting activities, social, leisure and learning activities and volunteering opportunities.
Video vignettes scattered throughout capture the heart of a welcoming and inclusive region by showcasing the characters, places, and opportunities in the Goyder region.
Managed by volunteers from the Goyder Inclusive Friendly Towns (GIFT), the project has already engaged many community members to highlight the wealth of opportunities for older people across the region.
A Goyder Hub Online project priority is to provide support and connect older residents to the myriad opportunities in their local communities.
