Wintertime is no longer for hunkering down or running away from the cold – it’s time to rug up and take to Adelaide’s streets, thanks to Illuminate Adelaide.

Running from 4 – 21 July, Illuminate Adelaide returns with a program filled with free and ticketed events to suit anyone and everyone. From interactive projections to the hottest musicians from around the world, Adelaide will be hotter than ever!

Adelaide Botanic Garden takes on a golden glow with Fire Gardens, a choose-your-own-adventure from renowned French creators Compagnie Carabosse that allows you to explore flaming sculpture, live performances, and giant fire pots at your own pace throughout the Garden. You can even stop for a drink at the Evergreen Bar in amongst the flames!

If you fancy seeing other iconic Adelaide locations transformed, wander down North Terrace and the East End to immerse yourself in City Lights, featuring a program of brand-new events and installations to explore. From singing Renaissance paintings outside the Art Gallery of South Australia to a giant interactive harp in Festival Plaza, let your curiosity guide you and see what you find! You can also stop in at Base Camp, now at its new home at Lot Fourteen. Some of SA’s best producers will be serving up delectable meals and delicious drinks to enjoy before or after your Illuminate Adelaide adventure.

Adelaide Zoo takes a trip back in time in Universal Kingdom: Prehistoric Nights! Using state-of-the-art puppetry and lighting, bring your intrepid explorers with you and discover creatures from years gone by mixed amongst the usual favourite furry friends at the Zoo. Children and their families can also enjoy Superluminal, the latest immersive theatre experience from Patch Theatre for 4 – 8-year-olds. Blending bold visual design, collaborative storytelling, and interactive play, the magical and engaging Superluminal takes place in the historic South Australian Museum.

Berlin-based studio flora&faunavisions mixes art and nature in EDEN, an immersive experience at The Light Room at ILA that invites you to explore the impact you have on the world. Using vibrant interactive visuals, grow your own garden and ponder how we can positively affect the natural world to ensure it remains vibrant for the generations after us.

Illuminate Adelaide isn’t all about the visual – you can also feast your ears with a range of music acts from around the world. From classical pianist Joep Beving (who takes over Her Majesty’s Theatre for one night only) to a weekend of experimental and electronic performances with Unsound Adelaide, Illuminate Adelaide's music program is not to be missed.
