With support from the Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card, Writers’ Week is offering four days of the best writers, thinkers and philosophers direct to your door in live streamed sessions from the East Stage to libraries, schools and retirement villages across the state. If you would like to be part of this exciting event, check to see if your facility has broadband, and the technology to present it.

Adelaide Writers’ Week is a highlight of the Adelaide Festival and is regarded as one of the world’s most significant writers’ festivals. It provides six days of public readings, talks and discussions with writers from around Australia and the world. The event is held in the historic Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden and is FREE to the public.

In March 2024, novelists, poets and writers from across the world once again join us to reflect on the lessons of history, make sense of the present moment and imagine a future that just might hold the promise of hope. The issues writers lay bare for us are both universal and specific to this time and place.

From the Ancient Rome conjured up by Mary Beard to the simulacrum of humanity in Ted Chiang’s stories, writers pose the fundamental question: what does it mean to be human? These perennial questions have no easy answers and perhaps offer little solace. However, the privilege of listening to the best of contemporary writers will surely confirm our shared conviction that reading continues to matter.
