Every year as part of the Plan Ahead campaign, Office of the Public Advocate partners with Office for Ageing Well, Legal Services Commission of South Australia, and DonateLife SA, to support South Australians to think about their financial, health, legal and personal wishes, including how to make sure these are known and respected.
This year, Office of the Public Advocate will launch a free three-part webinar series to engage the community and provide information on Advance Care Directives. The series titled ‘How an Advance Care Directive Can Work For You’ aims to provide easy-to-understand information and empower South Australians to complete their own Advance Care Directive.
The short series creates awareness and supports South Australians to feel confident when completing an Advance Care Directive, Power of Attorney and when appointing someone they trust to make decisions on their behalf if needed. The webinar series will also provide opportunity for attendees to ask questions about their own ‘plan ahead’ pathway.
Office of the Public Advocate promotes the rights and interests of people who may need assistance with decision-making, offering support with guardianship, investigation, advocacy, dispute resolution and information regarding rights and how legal documents can protect these. They understand how important it is for community members to take the time to think about and write down their values and beliefs – the things that are important to them - and plan ahead so their wishes are known and respected into the future.
The webinars include:
- About Advance Care Directives - Thursday 13 October, 1.00 - 1.30pm
- An Advance Care Directive Story - Thursday 17 November, 1.00 - 1.30pm
- What is a Binding Provision? - Thursday 1 December, 1.00 - 1.30pm
