In 2021, we asked Seniors Card members to tell us what they would like to see on the new Seniors Card website. Thank you to those Seniors Card members who provided useful feedback, insights and suggestions about the development of the new site.

The new Seniors Card website was launched early 2022 and Discounts & Deals was launched in May. Since launching the new website, more than 167,000 people have visited.

We hope it’s a useful tool for older South Australians to feel connected and access information and discounts.

We received some valuable feedback and suggestions from members, some of which we have already actioned. We’ve included some examples below.

Members who aren’t online can access discounts with the Seniors Card Discount Directory, Your Lifestyle Guide, which is produced annually and available from libraries and council offices around the state. Our customer service options include a free phone line for queries, updating details or requesting a replacement card.

Seniors Card website enhancements

“A little more colour”

The new Seniors Card website keeps with the recognisable Seniors Card blue and gold branding, but the addition of images and photos provides a welcome splash of colour throughout the site.

“More personable and engaging images and graphics”

The images of people on the Seniors Card website include real life South Australian Seniors Card members and business partners. We aim to represent the diversity of culture and age.

“Include ‘Contact Us’ and ‘About Us’”

You can find ‘Contact Us’ at the bottom of every page of the Seniors Card website. This includes address, phone number and email address. On the right of every page is a Facebook and email widget for easy access to the Seniors Card SA Facebook page and to send an email to the Seniors Card Unit. The main menu includes ‘About’ where you will find resources & useful links and frequently asked questions.

“Have all Seniors Card information in one place”

All Seniors Card publications have been consolidated into the new Seniors Card website. This includes content from the previous Seniors Card website, the Seniors Card Discount Directory (now Discounts & Deals) and WeekendPlus. It’s now easier to find any information about Seniors Card in one place.

“Ability to search for discounts by category or location”

The new Discounts & Deals website provides the ability to search for discounts and offers by category (such as holiday & travel or professional services), subcategory (such as car rental or financial services) and location (such as Adelaide CBD or Yorke Peninsula). You can search or browse category, sub-category or location or a combination of both.

“Information about other state and federal government services”

The resources & useful links section of the Seniors Card website includes a range of useful information and contact details of services and organisations relevant to older South Australians. This includes concessions, technology, legal advocacy and support, health and wellbeing, aged care, grants, etc.

“A clear menu with simple navigation”

The Seniors Card website has four clear menu headings – Membership, Benefits, WeekendPlus and About. Each heading has a small number of related sub-headings. The search bar allows you to search keywords to navigate to your desired page.

“Better mobile accessibility”

All functionality on the Seniors Card website is accessible on desktop and mobile devices, including WeekendPlus. To easily access discounts on your smartphone, add the Discounts & Deals page to your home screen for quick access while out and about.

“Tell us about new discounts”

The hardcopy Seniors Card Discount Directory, Your Lifestyle Guide is produced annually with updated discounts. As new business partners join the program, their offer is published on the Seniors Card website along with all active offers. New discounts are announced by email; more than 100,000 members are subscribed to receive emails from Seniors Card. Let us know if you’d like to subscribe.

“Dedicated pages for each business/offer so more information can be included”

Every Seniors Card business partner has a dedicated page with all the information you need to access the discount or offer. The offer, terms and conditions, additional information, website, phone number and address are all included in a clear and consistent format.

“More recipes”

With just one click (and a hover), you can access a smorgasbord of delicious recipes. Casseroles, tarts, salads, soups, bakes, cakes, noodles, roasts, pies, finger food, BBQ and more! Send us photos of your creations. If you want to know more about how to navigate around WeekendPlus, look out for our new video tutorial, coming soon!

“Have a prominently displayed home button”

There are a number of ways to get back to the Home page of the Seniors Card website. A house icon appears on the left of the blue banner at the top of every page of the Seniors Card website. You can also click on the Seniors Card logo at the top of every page to be taken back to the home page.

“Allow keyword searching”

At the top of every page of the Seniors Card website, you will find a search box where you can search any word. Did you read a Weekend article about roses and want to show a friend? Simply type “rose” in the search box. Anything relating to roses will be displayed and one click will take you to the article. You can also search keywords for discounts and offers. Do you need to get your carpets cleaned? Simply type “carpet” in the search box, then Discounts & Deals and view the business partners that offer discounted carpet cleaning to Seniors Card members.

“Be able to search for a discount”

As well as being able to filter and search for discounts and offers by category, sub-category and location, members can also use the search box to search for a particular business. Simply enter the business name in the search box, click on the result and view all the information you need to take advantage of the discount.

“Less clicks to get where I need to go”

With only two clicks, you can start an application for a new Seniors Card or access Seniors Card member online services to update your address. It takes only three clicks to find out what concessions you might be eligible for. Looking for some cooking inspiration? With one click, you can browse delicious recipes. What are the latest special offers for Seniors Card members? One click!
