Have you ever wanted to lunch on the lawns at Government House?

Now you can do so on the first Friday of each month.

Her Excellency the Governor, The Hon Frances Adamson AC, is opening the grounds up for people to pack a BYO picnic lunch, spread a rug, enjoy the front lawns and listen to live music from local community bands.

It all started on Friday 4 November and will continue on the first Friday of the month through until Thursday 14 April (due to Easter).

It’s part of Her Excellency’s aim to enable as many people as possible to visit Government House grounds.

While lunching on the lawn, people can wander around the front garden and view the statue of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the old hitching post hidden under the magnificent Moreton Bay Fig and marvel at the modern sculpture by Margaret Worth depicting the contemporary role of the Governor.

There is no need to book, and entry is free.
