The South Australian community is being invited to comment on the Retirement Villages (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2023, which will update the Retirement Villages Act 2016.

The Amendment Bill responds to recommendations made by the independent statutory review of the Retirement Villages Act 2016, conducted by PEG Consulting in 2021.

It also proposes reforms to strengthen consumer protections for residents and prospective residents.

Community members, particularly retirement village residents, prospective residents, operators and other interested parties are invited to provide feedback on whether the proposed changes achieve the intent of the review recommendations.

The consultation will help ensure the South Australian legislation remains contemporary and achieves the most appropriate balance between ensuring consumer protections and encouraging a diverse, viable and strong retirement village sector.

Community information sessions to discuss the proposed changes to the Retirement Villages Act 2016 will be held across South Australia in both metropolitan and regional areas.

Find out how to register to attend an information session and participate in the consultation at www.yoursay.sa.gov.au/RVActAmendmentBill.

The Community Consultation closes on 19 May 2023 at 5.00pm.
