The Cities of Charles Sturt and Port Adelaide Enfield will conduct research to better understand the needs of older people who identify as culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD).
They will use the findings to help to shape their strategies to better support CALD communities to age well.
Whilst both Councils have a range of programs that support older people, they know more could be done to support those from CALD backgrounds because ageing in a foreign land comes with some distinct challenges.
The Councils are particularly interested in hearing from new and emerging communities who traditionally do not access Council services.
The CALD research project team will consult with individuals, associations, and service providers across both Council areas, to assess the needs and create new connections with key community members and leaders to nourish a co-design relationship.
If you live in either Council area and are interested in being involved, please contact Aldin Shauki on phone 8408 1111.
The CALD Connectedness in Western Adelaide Research Project is supported by Office for Ageing Well, SA Health through an Age Friendly SA Grant to City of Charles Sturt. Click here to find out more about Office for Ageing Well Community Grants.
