As part of the Ageing Well program, the Greek Welfare Centre of SA – St Philothei (GWC) provides information, support, and education to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities on a range of important topics. These include My Aged Care, the aged care system, the Adult Safeguarding Unit, elder abuse awareness, Advance Care Directives, and other services that help people make informed decisions as they age.
The GWC also offers Greek Meals Services, providing traditional Greek food delivered by friendly volunteers who play an important role in creating social connections and supporting community wellbeing.
Through its Social Support Group - “Kipseli” Program, community members can enjoy regular social luncheons at a variety of venues, helping to reduce social isolation and promote active ageing. The program also includes excursions with previous destinations including Hahndorf, Lyndoch, and Mount Lofty.
To support health, wellbeing, and lifelong learning, the GWC offers walking and exercise groups, as well as computer and English language lessons. These activities encourage participants to stay active, connected, independent, and engaged within the community.
The GWC remains committed to supporting older members of its community to age well, maintain independence, and enjoy a high quality of life.
