A striking image that transforms a weathered wreck into a powerful work of art has won the top prize in the 2026 Seniors Card Through the Lens photographic competition.

Lotte Ebdrub impressed judges with her winning photograph 'Wrecked', which claimed the Judge's Choice Award. The image stood out among a strong field of entries, showcasing the depth of creativity, skill and unique perspectives from across our state.

Now in its 14th year, Through the Lens celebrates the photographic talents of older South Australians and encourages people to share the moments, places and stories that inspire them.

This year’s competition attracted 1069 photos entries, up from 670 entries in 2025. Marking a significant milestone, women comprise the majority of finalists for the first time since the competition's inception.

Entrants competed across six categories, including the new ‘Our State’ category sponsored by South Australian Photographic Federation, showcasing the beauty of Adelaide Fringe season from an elevated view.

The winners are:

* Judge's Choice – 'Wrecked' by Lotte Ebdrub
* Artistic Photography – 'Saucy Succulent' by Judith Brealey
* Active Ageing – 'Stars of the Sea' by Pasquale Belperio
* Landscape and Nature – 'Cheeky Girl' by Christine Hughes
* Meaningful Connections – 'Soaking in the Muloorina Station Hot Springs' by David Macdonald
* Our State – 'Adelaide Alive!' by John Kirk
* Portrait – 'Simon and the pelicans' by Sandy Horne

Finalists’ and winners’ images will feature in the Through the Lens exhibition at the City of Adelaide Library, North Terrace throughout October and November. Special thanks to our Exhibition Partner City of Adelaide Library, North Terrace (previously City Library).

Congratulations to all finalists for their captivating submissions. Thank you to our sponsors, Atkins Photo Lab, Diamonds Camera, Video and Digital, Claymore Wines and South Australian Photographic Federation who made the 2026 iteration of Through the Lens possible.
