Through the Lens is part of International Day of Older Persons celebrations. The competition and exhibition promote ageing well by celebrating the skills of older South Australians through the art of photography and demonstrate that people can learn and create at any age.
Seniors Card members love to share their stories, and other members love to hear them. Photos speak a thousand words. Through the Lens is a wonderful opportunity for Seniors Card members to share photos that they have taken, that reflect their lives and interests.
All South Australian Seniors Card members are invited to enter Through the Lens, the Seniors Card photographic competition.
Entries close Friday 19 August 2022.
The judges are looking for good photographic technique, creativity and clear photographs.
Seniors Card members are able to submit up to four photos in five categories:
- Active ageing
- Artistic photography
- Landscape & nature
- Meaningful connections
- Portrait
A winner and finalist in each of these categories will win great prizes.
Through the judging process, the judges will choose one entry to win the Judge’s Choice Award. In addition to looking for good photographic technique, creativity and clear photographs, judges will award the Judge’s Choice Award to a photograph that is unique, displays creativity, has impact and draws them in to discover the story or message without distraction.
The winner of the Judge’s Choice Award will win great prizes including a large ready-to-hang print of their photo thanks to sponsor, Atkins Photo Lab and the winning photograph will be featured on the Seniors Card website.
The People’s Choice Award won’t be running in 2022 due to timing and operational constraints. It may return in the future.
Winners will be announced in each of the six categories on 29 September 2022, to celebrate International Day of the Older Person.
Winners and finalists will have their work featured in an exclusive exhibition at the City Library, Rundle Mall for public view throughout October.
For more information and to view previous winners, visit the Through the Lens website.
Good luck!
