Seniors Card members should be wary of third party websites, apps and Facebook pages that purport to offer discounts and offers, especially those with a membership fee.
Seniors Card programs across Australia are operated by State Government. The recognisable Seniors Card logo and branding is used by all Seniors Card programs. The Seniors Card is free - you don't need to pay a membership fee to access benefits or pay for a replacement card.
Be wary of companies that imitate or claim to provide the same service as the Seniors Card Unit. For example:
- Seniors Advantage is a company based in Lithuania that promises to save older Australians money - once you pay a subscription fee. Visit the CHOICE website for more information.
- Seniors Card Discounts (also known as Senior Cards Discount and seniorsdiscounts.com claims to list all discounts and offers for Seniors Card members on an app. Whilst they do state on their website that they're "not attached to any of the State Government Seniors Card Agencies", no partnerships or agreements exist with Seniors Card programs, meaning the discounts and offers may not be accurate.
