Since the early 1980s, the aged care system has undergone four major reforms. A 2023 government report ranked aged care as the 12th most trusted service out of 17 in Australia. Restoring trust in aged care is seen as the sector's biggest challenge. The government recognises the need for major changes to ensure that aged care services meet individual needs. Success will require a partnership between government policy and aged care providers to deliver more responsive and sustainable services.

Researchers at the University of South Australia are studying the trust that older people and their carers have in the South Australian aged care system. To help improve the experiences of older people in aged care, they are inviting those who receive services through the Community Home Support Program (CHSP) or a Home Care Package (HCP), as well as carers, to take part in a short 15-minute survey. The survey can be completed online, or a paper version can be provided upon request.
Participation in the study is voluntary and all information provided will remain confidential.
After completing the survey, older people and informal carers can enter a draw to win one of 25 gift vouchers worth $20 each.
