Australia’s 5th National LGBTIQA+ Conference will be taking place in South Australia from 17-18 February 2023 at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Seniors Card and Office for Ageing Well are proud to be a sponsor for the conference again this year.

The national Better Together™ 2023 is Australia’s only LGBTIQA+ community conference and will bring together Australia’s diverse LGBTIQA+ communities, organisations, and allies to share ideas and experiences, learn from each other, forge alliances and ultimately work together and explore ways we can all contribute to creating positive change.

The 2-day conference will feature panel discussions, workshops, and talks that will explore themes of visibility, empowerment, and awareness, as well as allyship and collaboration.

Highlights for the 2023 conference include:

  • The Long Walk Foundation opening the conference at 8am on Friday 17 February with a gathering and Welcome to Country including a smoking ceremony. This will be followed by a walk of friendship across the Riverbank Precinct bridge into the Convention Centre.
  • The ABBA Museum Choir performing at the closing plenary on Saturday 18 February.
  • International guests include Lady Phyll from UK Black Pride, Robyn Ochs from USA, Suresh Ramdas from India, and Sweden’s Frank Berglund.
  • Sessions on End-of-Life Care and being multi-cultural, multi faith and LGBTIQA+.
  • Senator Janet Rice will be speaking.
  • Panels with regional communities.
  • Health workshops and talks run by GLADD (association of queer doctors and dentists).

This year they are introducing a new format called Better Think, a showcase of speakers presenting impactful and well-formed ideas that will help us “think better”. Inspired by the wonderfully short and powerful format of TED Talks, the aim of Better Think is to share great ideas in under 20 minutes.
