Every two years, Carers SA and the National Network of Carer Associations ask carers to share their opinions and experiences.

Carers SA is one of the official researchers for this survey and use the information and experiences that South Australian Carers share to advocate for greater support and recognition of all carers across SA and Australia.

This year’s survey is of particular importance because there is now a new South Australian Government as well as a new Federal Government. This means it is a chance to provide these new Governments with the latest information about the challenges carers face every day.

David Militz, Carers SA’s CEO explains why every carer’s voice must count and by factored into policy making and services delivered in the industry.

“Many people are looking after the ongoing needs of a family member or friend and may not even identify as being a Carer. We must make sure that the voices of as many South Australian Carers as possible are being heard and their contributions are recognised!

When we are meeting with Ministers and decision makers and talk about Carer policy, services, and Carer recognition, we must back up what we say with the most up to date evidence coming from Carers directly.”

Carers SA has published a South Australian outcome summary graphic from the last National Carer Survey. You can view the infographic here.
