The Invisible Woman project is a collaboration between the City of Adelaide, the University of Adelaide, and Just Gold (a social enterprise aiming to end gender and age inequity).

Community consultation sessions and/or separate filming sessions, are being held with the aim to hear directly from women in Adelaide:

  • What are the main issues women face?
  • What supports exist?
  • And where is more support needed?

Sessions are open to all ages, though the project is particularly interested in the voices of women aged over 50 as it aims to address the question: What are the current issues facing older women in Adelaide?

How the community consultation sessions will run

Just Gold Digital Agency will host two community consultation sessions. Depending on size of the group, the project aims for closed group discussions or a ‘Town Hall’ style meeting.

Participants are welcome to participate in the discussion or just listen – filming of stories will be optional and held in a separate space.

Sessions will start with a project introduction to get the conversation going, attendees can then share ideas, voice their opinions and ask questions of the presenter/moderator.

Filming

As part of The Invisible Woman Project, Just Gold is also compiling stories of women on camera to create a docuseries that highlights the ‘invisible’ issues women face as they age and calls for businesses and government to commit to action on gender and age equity.

The docuseries will bring awareness to the often-ignored issues of women, especially women who face intersectional barriers to equality such as those living with a disability or who identify as LGBTIQ+, First Nations or from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The project invites participants to share their story on camera and add to the docuseries. We welcome participants from all backgrounds, genders, and ages, and are seeking to hear stories from personal and professional experience. Filming will take place within 30-minute sessions.
