I am so excited to be sharing the 2023 Nature Festival program with you.

This year we invite you to join us on a 300-event exploration of what it means to belong. How we build an identityand relationship with nature over a life? The landscapes we carry and what makes a home?

We’ll begin our journey with a family picnic and Welcome to Country from Ngangki Warra at an iconic SA home, Carrick Hill. Then trace ancestral and modern landscape influences through food, traverse home with local and regional immersive events, inquire through art and discussion, and explore Australia’s oldest sense of home with a broad range of Aboriginal Culture events including Kaurna language sessions with the Nature Festival’s Cultural Ambassador Jack Buckskin.

We’ll also investigate the nature of home for the human and more-than-human worlds including a series of walks and talks for bird watching beginners and enthusiasts alike with our bird lover in residence. And once again the Festival hosts an extensive school holiday program.

This year we are particularly pleased to partner with Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card to offer two very special events in the program. Join us for an extraordinary journey through Adelaide’s Parklands, where nature's tranquillity meets the artistry of tea through Tea Trail. This exceptional event takes you to three unique sites, across three dates, to savour three different thematic tea selections: native Australian, Japanese and English High Tea.

Nature invites connections and our second event, Seed Dating 50+, invites participants to make new connections with other like-minded participants as they sow seeds for a summer harvest. Whether you are interested in making new friends or perhaps a little more, this fun event, hosted by ABC’s Jules Schiller, is destined to be a Festival highlight. Ticket discounts apply to both events for Seniors Card members.

All told, we hope you come away with a renewed remembrance of your own relationship with nature, a stronger sense of belonging to your community, and the deep, quiet peace of feeling at home in nature, wherever you are.
